Travelling into your bookshelf
2009 - ongoing

Travelling into Your Bookshelf is a touring project that started in 2009. It creates dialogue around the memories of books donated by people from all over the word. Ongoing, it aims to not have any limits in terms of location or format. Through meeting friends and strangers and reading their books,

I attempt to establish relationships with them and learn about their cultures by exploring their memories and maintaining open communication. Through knitting with the participants, I hope to create a new way of reading and new ways of communicating: to remove barriers existing between people.

The project was inspired by a friend’s blog “Travelling into my bookshelf”
(21 december 2008).

To give you my beloved books and let you shred them into pieces, so that they can be reborn as a form of art.
I feel reluctant and sad, but at the same time very grateful. - euan park
